Winchester, VA
The Old Town Events Center, completed in 2000, is an adaptive re-use of a church in historic downtown Winchester, Virginia. The project program was to provide a multi-purpose event space for receptions, parties, community gatherings, or any type of activity required by the citizens of downtown Winchester. The historic structure project was a successful application for both Virginia State and Federal historic rehabilitation tax credits. The program required a design for accessibility including access to all areas of the building and a wheelchair lift was integrated into the exterior design of the building. ADA compliant toilet facilities were designed to support the assembly uses required. HVAC, electrical and plumbing retrofits and building envelope enhancement as well as interior finish restoration were completed to the satisfaction of all approving agencies. The project was also approved by the Winchester ARB. This project was delivered on time and on budget.
