The Charles A. Ricketts Memorial Gymnasium, completed in 2007, is the center of student life at Timber Ridge School in Frederick County, Virginia. The project program was to provide a multi-purpose gymnasium space, weight room, locker rooms, offices, and classrooms for the students and faculty of Timber Ridge. The new structure uses insulated concrete form technology and structural insulated panels to form a high performance envelope that allowed the downsizing of mechanical equipment. Day lighting design for most spaces reduces the need for energized lighting. The school had established a style for their campus buildings which was incorporated in the design of the new facility. The building is 18,128 sf, 9,059 sf of which is multipurpose gymnasium.
